This reusable container is a fun piece to gift to family or friends, especially around the holidays. When closed it appears to be a solid piece of coal. It isn’t until the recipient “cracks” it open do they reveal what’s inside.

DESCRIPTION:

This reusable container was 3D scanned & modeled from a real lump of coal. The print uses a combination of embedded magnets & alignment pins to make a firm seal when closed, giving the appearance of a seamless, solid piece.

PRINT SIZE: 108mm x 102mm x 83.5mm

WHAT’S INCLUDED WHEN PURCHASED:

  • Printing and assembly instructions (PDF)

  • 3mf file compatible with Bambu Studio

  • Two STL files compatible with most slicer programs available

HARDWARE REQUIRED:

  • Bambu X1 or P1 series printer is recommended

  • Any 3D printer with at least a 200 x 200 mm bed

SOFTWARE REQUIRED:

  • Bambu Studio 1.4.8 was used for the project but any slicer software that is able to be pause the print and later resume

MATERIALS & TOOLS REQUIRED :

  • 200 g of matte black PLA filament

  • (6) 8x3mm disc neodymium magnets

  • Black fine-point permanent marker
